“QUEEN OF THE IVORIES” combines the Jan Preston Band’s toe tapping up tempo live performances of tunes such as The Black and White Rag, The Poor People of Paris, In The Mood, Alley Cat, The Harry Lime Theme, The Five Finger Boogie and more, (click here for audio excerpts), together with more than 150 photos of Winnie in Australia at the peak of her career. Jan gives us a wonderful insight into Winifred Atwell’s life; her tireless work for charities, her enormous success which culminated in her playing to more than 20 million people worldwide, her many top ten hits, as well as personal snippets about Winnie, such as that she loved eating mangoes, doing crosswords, and that her hands were insured for 40,000 pounds with Lloyds of London, the contract stipulating “Miss Atwell must never do the dishes!” This show has had standing ovations and sold out venues in Australia and NZ!
