10 years ago I was commissioned by the National Film and Sound Archive to compose and record a score for the iconic Australian Silent Comedy, THE KID STAKES. What a blast!
It’s just about my favourite show in our repertoire and we don’t get to perform it very often.
I’m delighted the HUMPH HALL (private home/venue) in Allambie Heights, has invited us to present one performance only Saturday 6th September @ 7pm. Details and bookings here.
The KID STAKES was enormously popular on its release in 1927. This delightful silent comedy is a highly entertaining romp through kids gangs, goat races, break-ins, aeroplanes, backyard cricket and the like, presenting a fascinating snapshot of Australia at the time.
Shot on location in Sydney and Queensland the plot is funny, touching, and engaging, ending with a climactic race which leaves audiences gasping with excitement, a treat to be indulged with Jaffas and cheers! Don’t miss!
You can also hear Mike and I in concert at the Sutherland Folk Club on Thursday September 11th @ 7.30pm. The series are held in a lovely room inside TRADIES GYMEA, with a terrific vibe and dedicated audience. No bookings, $20 at the door, 57 Manchester Rd, Gymea

We’re finally getting back on the horse so to speak, it’s been a while, and we intend to enjoy the ride!
